Bear Essentials
Bear Essentials is a mentoring program available to girls who are enrolled at Bowie High School. Our goal is to empower young women by promoting education, self-esteem, and love for community. Students participate in field trips, power lunches and workshops year round.
Tutoring/Mentoring
The center provides a quiet and safe environment for children of all ages to complete homework assignments and to receive assistance. Volunteers are available to tutor and mentor participants.
Los Duros/Las Mujeres
Houchen is also the home of two youth groups. The groups focus on building leadership skills in teenagers, providing safe opportunities to grow and mature into very positive young men and women. It is Houchen’s belief that keeping young people sage and in a healthy environment will encourage every youth to pursue positive opportunities in life.
